With our roots in the rich soil of Skåne, the southern most county in Sweden, Far Travels make travel arrangements for Swedish farmers going abroad. We also arrange agro tours for groups who want to come to Sweden.

About Sweden

Sweden is a long country which stretches all the way from the polar circle in north to the south coast for around 1,500 km (c.940 miles).

In May, when the first potatoes are harvested in the south, they are still planting in the north. In our southern region we also produce the well known Absolut Vodka from wheat grown in the area.

Historically Skåne was refered to as the granary of Sweden, although our friends farming further north might not agree!!

Agricultural Tours

Agricultural study tours fare arranged in collaboration with HIR Malmöhus AB, a strong consulting group with skilled agricultural experts and contacts throughout the country. This group also arrange Borgeby Fältdagar (Borgeby Field Days) a well known agricultural outdoor fair for professional farmers, during the last week in June every year. 

Our goal with these tours is to mirror the threats and opportunities that result from more open trade of agricultural products.  Over the years we have gained knowledge and experience in the following countries:

In those countries we do not have personal experience of, we work together with ATOI, a worldwide organisation with extensive knowledge of agriculture.  In addition, we also make good use of local expertise in agricultural administration in all the countries we visit.

Rural Tours

The theme for these tours is the interaction between people, agriculture and nature.  We follow a travel itinerary which often takes us far from the usual tourist routes “off the beaten path”.   There is always time to make spontaneous stops when we see something interesting along the way, be it a market, school, village or farm.  In many of the countries rural visits are prepared for tourists - we try to avoid these places in order to have a more authentic, rural experience and meet people in the course of their day to day lives with the hope that we come home having had a truly unique journey and have distinctive stories to tell.

Several of the countries we visit are considered to be developing countries where many of the inhabitants, not least minority groups, live in very basic rural conditions.  Visits to these, often marginalised, people who cultivate inferior land and live according to natures’ unpredictability reveals the incredible ability of people to survive.  Such an encounter is unforgettable and will remain with you for the rest of your life.

Nature Travels

There are still countless, unique, areas of natural significance on earth and we at Far Travels, like so many of our customers, share a great interest in discovering and appreciating such natural wonders. So, when we find ourselves, during the course of our tours, in the proximity of something extra special we try to stay a little longer or make an extra tour for those who are interested.  For example, a visit to the Galapagos on the tour to Ecuador or a stop in South Patagonia when travelling to Chile.

We are constantly on the look-out for new destinations and are always planning to create some truly unique travel packages.
